that real internet masterminds
use to tap in to huge flows of
targeted traffic which ‘pile up’
at their web sites. So much
traffic in fact they could
almost drown in it!

Traffic Tactic #1 - RSS Feeds –
Under-rated and often overlooked
Everyone knows that article and
video marketing are superb
methods of generating fr.e,e
traffic to your website. But
many people aren’t getting the
maximum benefit from these
valuable pieces of content that
they have spent loads of time
creating. All you need to do is
add a simple RSS feed to your
content and its traffic
generating ability will increase
exponentially.
Don’t let the techie term ‘RSS
Feed’ scare you – it should be
one of your main allies.
Submitting RSS feeds of content
for your web site to RSS
directories is a very powerful
way to get more traffic. It will
instantly give you hundreds of
back links to your site which
will:
- increase you exposure on the
internet
- give you higher rankings on
the search engines
- get you more visitors because
RSS subscribers will find your
content more easily
How do you get your RSS feed?
On web sites such as
EzineArticles, Squidoo,
HubPages, Blogger.com and many
others you can get an RSS feed
link just by clicking on the
little RSS image usually located
right next to the website’s
address. This will take you to
another page then just copy the
address of that page – and this
is its RSS feed address.
Now, there are websites that do
not have that little RSS icon on
the address bar. Do not worry
about that. When there is a
problem, there is always a
solution! Go to
http://www.dapper.net/dapperfox/
, this is a toolbar for FireFox
that easily generates RSS feeds
for any website. When you cannot
find the RSS icon just click on
the Dapperfox icon and it will
generate it for you.
To maximise your exposure you
should grab the RSS feed links
for every single piece of
content that you have out there.
Then all these RSS links should
be submitted to RSS directories
such as
www.feedping.com ,
www.feedest.com ,
www.feedage.com and others.
However, this can be time
consuming but guess what? I’m
going to let you in on a little
secret which makes it much much
easier and faster to do.
Go to
www.RSSMix.com . Enter your
RSS feed URLs in the field and
it will generate one RSS link of
all of your RSS links. Then you
will simply need to submit just
this one link to the RSS
directories which will save you
hours of time.
Tip:
if you are working in several
niches, make sure you generate a
separate RSS feed for each of
those niches. In other words
collect all of your RSS feed
URLs in niche one, and collect
all RSS feed URLs in niche 2.
Then by using RSS Mix, generate
two RSS links – one for Niche
#1, the other for Niche #2.
Traffic Tactic #2 - Viral Video
PLUS Video Optimisation
Have you ever noticed how fast
some videos become popular? Some
funny videos can get literally
thousands of views per day on
YouTube alone! Why? Because the
video is unique and really
really side-splittingly funny.
People watch it and enjoy it,
they then share it with their
friends and other people and –
boom – the video goes ‘viral’.
Many people think that making a
video is the hardest thing in
the world but that is simply not
true. Making a video should take
you no more than one day with
all the work included. And it
can keep bringing you traffic
for years. Just imagine how long
you’d have to work on your
articles to generate that sort
of traffic
How do you make your viral
video?
First, you need a video camera
(or even a good phone camera
would do) to create the video.
Then you need a good idea – try
to think of something original
that you think people would
absolutely love. Something
unique, something that has the
WOW factor. For example, you
could follow me around all day
with your camera and no doubt
with my uncanny
ability to trip up and
break things you’d soon find
something that would be
hilarious to every other person
in the world other than me who’d
be nursing a broken elbow from
falling down the stairs or
something!
No, but seriously there are
loads of things you could video.
Something more realistic might
be, for example, if you are
involved in the puppy niche
market you could create some
funny videos of puppies playing,
being dressed up and doing
getting up to all kinds of
mischief. You can even ask your
friends to video their own
puppies for you – people love
doing this sort of thing.
Make sure you relate the video
to your website in some way. For
example, if your website
promotes puppy beds, make sure
you cover that aspect in the
video. Maybe show puppies
sleeping or a few puppies
sharing one bed, etc.
Film you Dad cursing and
blinding as he messes up some
DIY, go out and film some people
making an appalling hash-up of
parking - by both sexes (had to
be careful there). There are
loads and loads of ideas.
Then, get those video clips
together, add some cool music,
and you are done! You can use
some very simple easy to use
software like Windows Movie
Maker to do this. Make sure you
ask a few people to watch the
video before submitting it, so
you are sure you’ve done a good
job and you can really expect it
to become viral. Otherwise is
could go badly wrong like when
Mr
Tone-deaf-I-can’t-sing-one-note-in-tune
auditions on the X-Factor!
When you are done with the video
sign up to a no-cost account at
YouTube.com (or any of the many
other video sharing sites) and
simply submit your new video.
Then to maximise the exposure of
your video you must optimize it
for the search engines. This
will generate lots of additional
organic traffic too!
How to explode your traffic with
secret video optimisation
tactics
1. Include your keywords (words
related to your web site niche)
in the title of your video.
2. Write a very good description
of the video. This can actually
be a short article, well
optimized for the keywords of
your niche. At the beginning of
your video description, place a
link to your website, so that
the link is seen while watching
the video. (with some video
creation software such as
Camtasia – fre,e, trial
available at
www.techsmith.com – with
this you can actually create a
water mark so your web site name
can be displayed subtly
throughout the video).
3. Add tags to your video. This
is one of the most important
parts of the job which most
people lazily don’t bother with.
All you have to do is search for
related videos that are most
watched in your video category
and copy their tags.
Additionally, add a few of your
own tags. Most of the times this
will make your video show up in
the “related videos” area when
your competitors’ videos are
watched. Simple and powerful
just the way we like it! To begin your viral video traffic with your newly uploaded video just get as many people, friends, family, colleagues, etc, as possible to watch it first so that they start spreading the word. Send the link to your video to your friends and people you know, just share it. You will be amazed at how fast the video will get spread around – so long, of course, as you did a good job on the video itself. Watch your profits grow as your traffic goes through the roof!
Traffic Tactic #3 Forum
Marketing – ‘Under the Radar’
Tactics Forum marketing is another amazing free method to get targeted traffic to your website. What many marketers do not know though, is that by working smarter, not harder, you can drive tons more traffic to any website using this method.
First, you have to choose a
couple of active forums in your
niche. Make sure you check how
many members (especially active
members) that forum has. The
more the better. To find active
forums, you can either search
Google (by typing in your
keyphrase + forum), or go to
www.BigBoards.com . This
website has a list of biggest
active forums in any possible
niche.
Now, this is what ninety per
cent of the marketers do when
doing forum marketing:
They register to a few forums.
They start replying to threads,
and eventually start promoting
their website. This is the wrong
way to go about it and can even
get their accounts banned.
What you should do is, instead
of trying to promote their
website in their signature link
or in their posts, focus on
helping forum members. This is
what is most important. By
helping other people you will
start being noticed and your
name will soon become
recognized. Just please do a
good job on helping those other
people.
You should be active in the
forum for at least two to three
weeks before you even start to
promote anything. My advice is
to have no signature at all to
start with. Or, if you do, it
should not link to your website,
but say something general, like
“Happily married”, if you are in
the marriage or dating niche.
By posting replies in that forum
you’ll start to notice all the
problems and concerns that those
people in your niche have. And
all the time you can be grouping
those concerns and problems
together, and, more importantly,
providing a solution to each one
of them. When those two or three weeks have passed you should continue to be active in the forum. In fact, when you start forum marketing, your decision should take account of you becoming an active member of that forum for as long as you work in that niche. It’s not something temporary it’s part of your daily and weekly activities.
After you have worked a little
in the forum and are building
your reputation bit by bit, you
can add your website in your
signature. But do not start to
promote anything. Just keep
being helpful and giving great
advice.
Then there comes a time to
implement some smart ‘under the
radar’ tactics. The first move
is to start your own thread on
that forum. In your thread you
can say that you’ve been here
for some time and you’ve noticed
the issues people have. And as
you are a person who has faced
all these problems in the past,
you are willing to help them out
by sharing your experiences,
your advice and suggestions. Of
course, you would adapt exactly
what you say according to the
niche you are in, but something
like that really does work.
Your thread should not look like
something promotional either.
Honest, real advice, and as much
personality of yours as possible
(including a little humour) will
do a great job.
When doing forum marketing do
not expect a flood of traffic in
the first few weeks. You have to
build trust first. But when you
have done a good job at that you
will see huge increase of
traffic.
Once again – forum marketing is
a long term traffic generating
technique. Do not make a big
mistake by spending three weeks
on some forums and then
forgetting about them if you do
not start getting more traffic
immediately. Forum marketing
does bring traffic. You just
have to be a little more patient
to reap the continuous rewards
later on.
